Malaysian Association in Singapore (“MASIS”, "us", "we", or "our") operates the www.masis.org.sg website (the "Service"). In compliance with the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (“PDPA”), we will not share and disclose your personal data with a third party without your consent unless it is required by written laws. We will ensure that the personal data you provided to and maintained by us will be kept strictly confidential.
This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data that you have given us when you use the Service and the choices you have associated with that data. By using the Service, you consent to the collection, use and disclosure of information in accordance with this policy.
Types of Personal Data That We Collect
The types of information that MASIS collects include but is not limited to when you use our membership registration forms, survey forms, and event registration forms. Personal data which we may collect include:
- Name
- Email Address
- Personal particulars and contact information (such as name, NRIC/FIN number, address, telephone numbers)
- Personal particulars and contact information of family members or colleagues for Family and Corporate Memberships
Collection and Usage of Personal Data
MASIS may collect your personal data through the information that you submit on our forms, which include but is not limited to the membership registration forms, survey forms, and event registration forms (hereinafter referred to collectively as “Forms”). The information you provide in all our Forms, is to enable MASIS to:
- register and contact you about your attendance at our event;
- carry out administrative and planning activities for our event;
- plan and develop future activities and opportunities;
- facilitate your requirements in relation to our event;
- allow the compilation and analysis of statistics relevant to our event;
- to include into MASIS mailing list to enable dissemination of information about future activities and opportunities.
(hereinafter referred to collectively as “Purposes”)
By submitting the Forms, you :
- consent to MASIS collecting, using, disclosing and/or processing your personal data for the Purposes as described above;
- consent to MASIS collecting personal data about you from sources other than yourself and using, disclosing and/or processing the same, for one or more of the Purposes as described above;
- consent to MASIS disclosing your personal data to official representatives of Malaysia or Malaysia government organizations, MASIS third-party service providers, agents, or collaborators (including their representatives), for the Purposes as described above;
- consent to MASIS transferring your personal data out of Singapore to its third-party service providers, agents, or collaborators where such third-party service providers, agents, or collaborators are sited (whether in Singapore or outside of Singapore), for the Purposes as described above;
- represent and warrant that you are the user and/or subscriber of the personal details and contact provided by you in the form;
- have read and understood the above provisions.
Disclosure of Personal Data
MASIS may disclose your personal data in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to:
- Comply with a legal obligation;
- Protect and defend the rights or property of Malaysian Associations in Singapore;
- Prevent or investigate possible wrongdoing in connection with the Service;
- Protect the personal safety of users of the Service or the public; and/or
- Protect against legal liability.
Your personal data may be disclosed by MASIS to third-party companies, agents, collaborators, individuals, including their representatives, to facilitate our Service, which may be sited outside of Singapore, for one or more of the above Purposes. As such, these third-party service providers, agents or collaborators, individual, including their representatives, if engaged by MASIS, would be processing your personal data for one or more of the above Purposes.
Consent To Use of Personal Data During MASIS Events
By attending MASIS event, you consent to the use of your photograph, voice, likeness, and image in any broadcasts of the event and in subsequent productions drawn from video or audio recordings of the event. The photographs and recordings may be published or broadcasted in the official MASIS and affiliates’ publications and in publicity materials, including the MASIS and affiliates’ websites and social media. All recordings, articles, quotes, photographs, films, audio, or video and/or any reproductions of same in any form, are the property of MASIS. You waive all rights you may have to any claims for payment or royalties in connection with our events.
It is the responsibility of event participants to remove themselves from group and candid shots/recordings that the photographers/videographers intend to capture, if you do not wish to have their photos/audio-visual recordings taken at the event.
You release MASIS, its affiliates, employees, representatives, and agents from any and all claims, demands, costs and liability that may arise from the use of these interviews, recordings, photographs, videotapes or films, and/or any reproductions of same in any form, as described above, arising out of being interviewed, recorded, photographed, videotaped or filmed.
Withdrawal Of Consent
Should you wish to withdraw your consent for any of the Purposes stated above, please indicate your intent to withhold consent by email to: administrator@masis.org.sg Please allow at least 5 business days for your withdrawal of consent to take effect. Accessing and Updating Your Personal Data You have the right to request a copy of the information that we hold about you or find out how we have been using or disclosing your personal data in the past one year by sending an email to administrator@masis.org.sg We may charge you a small reasonable administrative fee for the processing of your request.
However, under certain circumstances as prescribed in the PDPA, we may refuse your request to access your personal data, in the event where the personal data could reasonably be expected to:
- threaten the safety or physical or mental health of another individual;
- cause immediate or grave harm to the safety or physical or mental health of the individual who made the request;
- reveals personal data about another individual;
- reveals the identity of an individual who provided personal data about another individual; and
- is contrary to national interest.
MASIS takes reasonable measures to ensure that the personal data that we have collected from you remains accurate and up to date. If any of the information that you have provided to MASIS changes or needs to be updated, please let us know the correct and/or updated details by sending an email to: administrator@masis.org.sg
Amendments To Our Policies
MASIS reserves our right to amend, vary or modify our policies at any times, without giving any prior notice to you and such amendments shall be effective immediately upon inclusion / publication of such amendment on our website.
